Moygownagh, County Mayo

Moygownagh is one of the smallest, happiest, busiest and most active parishes in the diocese of Killala and is an ideal place in which to live. You can experience peace and quite yet live in a vibrant community where all groups work in partnership to create a meitheal effect and all reap the benefits of working through this medium

The village is on the main Crossmolina to Ballycastle road. Its surrounding parishes are Kilfian, Crossmolina, and Kilcommon in the barony of Erris.

The modern Community Centre is at the heart of the parish. It is a meeting place, a sporting venue, a planning and learning space. Recently the community council was successful in being allocated £100,000 grant from LEADER funds towards the further development of its sporting and community facilities.

The people of Moygownagh and surrounding areas benefit from computer training facilities and various European equality programmes at the centre.

This rural area boasts progressive community development training and is home to the leading organization in women’s development in North Mayo.
